If you're looking for pictures and the narrative blog of Rogue, please click on the upper right link "THE ROGUE BLOG & PICTURES" to go there.

Why you may ask does a 114-year old boat need a blog? Rogue is currently being restored to her former racing capacity so the blog is here to document this process and new life. It is a collection point for her history and an attempt to increase awareness about the need to preserve New Zealand history.

One of the oldest boats in New Zealand, Rogue was constructed at night by candlelight and gas lamp. During the day Charles Bailey Jr worked for his father in the boat yard, at night his passion for racing yachts kept him up building ships like Rogue. She was launched on November 26, 1892 by Charles Bailey Jr, one of the two big family names in New Zealand yachting. Rogue is a racing cutter with a length of 34', beam 6'8", draft 6', and a strong refastened 3 skin kauri hull.

Rogue has had an interesting history. From the lead keel being removed in 1917 to be turned into bullets for the war effort, to her brief racing history in Wellington under the name of Muritai, click on the links on the right to discover something for yourself.
